The Freedom Index is a proposed international standard for the classification of human rights information. It aims to ensure that any information in the public domain can be easily and precisely found. In its initial stage of development the index will centre on human rights information, though – in theory - the system can be expanded to incorporate all streams of human knowledge.

About Us

The initiator of The Freedom Index is Code Red, which involves many of the worlds’ most respected and influential privacy advocates, whistleblowers, academics and technologists. It conducted an eighteen-month consultation involving hundreds of experts and organisations and used their input in the design of the Freedom Index.
