The following scorecard lists several key votes in the Colorado General Assembly in 2021 and 2022 and ranks state representatives and senators based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.
This is our first state-level Scorecard; the selected votes may not be reflective of legislators’ overall records. Their cumulative scores will change as we add more votes. Please check regularly for updates.
Senate
1. Rescind Con-Con
HJR1006 Rescind Con-Con (Passed 29 to 3 on 4/23/2021). Rescinds of all previous requests by the Colorado Legislature for a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution.
2. Reproductive Health Equity Act
HB1279 Reproductive Health Equity Act (Passed 20 to 15 on 3/23/2022). Makes it illegal to impose restrictions on abortion and makes it legal to murder preborn babies up to the moment of birth.
3. Jail Standards Commission
HB1063 Jail Standards Commission (Passed 27 to 5 on 5/6/2022). Gives more rights to those who are incarcerated.
4. Congressional Voting Rights
SM001 Congressional Voting Rights (Passed 20 to 13 on 1/18/2022). Urges Congress to pass comprehensive voting rights legislation that compromises election integrity.
5. Building Green Codes
HB1362 Building Green Codes (Passed 21 to 14 on 5/9/2022). Sets standards to reduce building greenhouse gas emissions.
6. Displaced Aurarian Scholarship
HB1393 Displaced Aurarian Scholarship (Passed 24 to 11 on 5/9/2022). Creates the Displaced Aurarian scholarship for the descendants of Aurarians, a neighborhood in Denver, displaced by the development of the Auraria Higher Education Center between 1955 and 1973.
