The Legislative Scorecard is a nationwide educational program of The John Birch Society. Its purpose is to create an informed electorate on how state legislators are voting. The Scorecard is nonpartisan; it does not promote any candidate or political party. Bills are selected for their constitutional implications and cost to the taxpayers.

The following scorecard lists several key votes in the Georgia Legislature in 2021-2022 and ranks their State Senators and House Representatives based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.

This is our first state-level Scorecard; the selected votes may not be reflective of legislators’ overall records. Their cumulative scores will change as we add more votes. Please check regularly for updates.

Senate

House of Representatives

1. Mental Health Parity Act

Good Vote: No

HB1013 Mental Health Parity Act (Passed 169 to 3 on 3/8/2022). Greatly expands government controlled mental healthcare and hands unprecedented powers from people to the government.

2. Constitutional Carry

Good Vote: Yes

SB319 Constitutional Carry (Passed 100 to 67 on 3/30/2022). Removes the requirement that you must possess a permit when carrying a concealable weapon or firearm.

3. Vaccine Passport Ban

Good Vote: Yes

SB345 Vaccine Passport Ban (Passed 99 to 67 on 3/29/2022). Prohibits state and local governments from mandating vaccine passports, essentially banning COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

4. Protect Students First Act

Good Vote: Yes

HB1084 Protect Students First Act (Passed 98 to 71 on 4/4/2022). Bans transgender students from participating in sports teams of the opposite gender and school from teaching Critical Race Theory.

5. State Budget

Good Vote: No

HB911 State Budget (Passed 160 to 5 on 4/4/2022). Enacts Georgia’s 2022-2023 fiscal year budget, spending a record $30.2 billion dollars, which is nearly an 11% increase from the previous year’s budget.

6. Parents' Bill of Rights

Good Vote: Yes

HB1178 Parents' Bill of Rights (Passed 98 to 68 on 3/4/2022). Provides transparency and gives parents the right to review curriculum and learning materials in their child’s classroom.
