The following scorecard lists several key votes in the Illinois Legislature in 2021-2022 and ranks their State Senators and House Representatives based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.

This is our first state-level Scorecard; the selected votes may not be reflective of legislators’ overall records. Their cumulative scores will change as we add more votes. Please check regularly for updates.

Senate

1. Rescind Con-Con

Good Vote: Yes

SJR0054 Rescind Con-Con (Passed 37 to 18 on 4/6/2022). Rescinds of all previous requests by the Illinois Legislature for a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution.

2. Sex Education Standards

Good Vote: No

SB818 Sex Education Standards (Passed 37 to 18 on 5/20/2021). Makes Illinois the first state to implement sex-education that aligns with the extremely explicit and perverse National Sex Education Standards (NSES).

3. Gun Owner Rights

Good Vote: No

HB562 Gun Owner Rights (Passed 40 to 17 on 5/31/2021). Restricts firearm sales, imposes registration requirements and imposes rules on the private transfer of guns.

4. Latex Glove Ban

Good Vote: No

HB209 Latex Glove Ban (Passed 44 to 12 on 4/7/2022). Food service establishments and health care facilities may not permit employees to use latex gloves.

5. African-American Aids Response Act

Good Vote: No

HB5549 African-American Aids Response Act (Passed 53 to 0 on 3/31/2022). Ensures funds should provide resources for creating and maintaining at least one Black-led Center of Excellence HIV Biomedical Resource Hub for every $3,000,000 of available funding to improve Black health.

6. Traffic Cameras

Good Vote: No

HB4481 Traffic Cameras (Passed 48 to 5 on 4/8/2022). Increases the amount of cameras along expressways and the State highway system.
