The following scorecard lists several key votes in the Illinois Legislature in 2023 and ranks their State Senators and House Representatives based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.

House of Representatives

1. Electric Vehicle Charging Act

Good Vote: No

SB40 Electric Vehicle Charging Act (Passed 69 to 38 on 5/4/2023). Provides that a new single-family residence or a small multifamily residence shall have at least one electric-vehicle-capable parking space for each residential unit that has dedicated parking.

2. Woke Investments

Good Vote: No

HB2782 Woke Investments (Passed 79 to 26 on 3/23/2023). Mandates that every investment manager must annually disclose how they incorporate sustainability factors into their investment processes.

3. Prevailing Wage

Good Vote: No

HB3491 Prevailing Wage (Passed 75 to 36 on 3/22/2023). Grants laborers, workers, or mechanics employed by contractors or lower tier sub-contractors the right to take legal action if they are paid less than the prevailing wage rates for work on a project.

4. Hunger-Free Campus

Good Vote: No

HB2528 Hunger-Free Campus (Passed 106 to 5 on 3/21/2023). Requires the Board of Higher Education to establish a hunger-free campus grant program.

5. Government Weaponization

Good Vote: No

SB1909 Government Weaponization (Passed 72 to 40 on 5/10/2023). Prohibits pro-life limited-services pregnancy centers from using “unfair” competition or “deceptive” practices to prevent individuals from accessing abortion or emergency contraception providers, persuade individuals to use their services, “mislead” in advertising or offering pregnancy-related services, or conduct pregnancy-related services “unfairly” or “deceptively”.

6. Illegal Aliens as Law Enforcement Officers

Good Vote: No

HB3751 Illegal Aliens as Law Enforcement Officers (Passed 100 to 7 on 5/19/2023). Allows individuals with deferred immigration action under DACA to apply for positions like police officer, deputy sheriff, or special policeman, given they meet certain requirements.
