Leftists claim these adjustments aim to promote “fairness” and “inclusivity” in the legal framework surrounding children’s rights and welfare.

The Illinois State Senate passed HB1596 on May 4, 2023 by a vote of 36 to 19. We have assigned pluses to the nays because the Left has been promoting radical Marxist ideas like this for years. The indoctrination that leads people to believe that they can choose their pronouns and identify as a different gender is immoral. Scientifically and biblically, there are only two genders. Additionally, minors are not yet capable of giving informed consent and should not have the ability to choose a gender that contradicts their scientific classification.

Electric Vehicle Charging Act  |  SB0040

SB40 provides that a new single-family residence or a small multifamily residence shall have at least one electric-vehicle-capable parking space for each residential unit that has dedicated parking.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed SB40 on May 4, 2023 by a vote of 69 to 38. We have assigned pluses to the nays because this legislation creates more government interference in the free-market economy and advances the Marxist climate-change agenda. Businesses and developers should have the freedom to conduct business without the government meddling in their affairs by setting unrealistic and costly regulations.

Woke Investments  |  HB2782

HB2782 mandates that every investment manager must annually disclose how they incorporate sustainability factors into their investment processes. This includes detailing how they integrate sustainability into decision-making, analysis, portfolio construction, due diligence, and investment ownership.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed HB2782 on March 23, 2023 by a vote of 79 to 26. We have assigned pluses to the nays because this is another example of government interfering in the lives of its citizens by strong-arming investment managers to force people into investing in “woke” companies and businesses. The free market should control how people invest their money, and the government should not monitor private commerce.

Prevailing Wage  |  HB3491

HB3491 grants laborers, workers, or mechanics employed by contractors or lower tier sub-contractors the right to take legal action if they are paid less than the prevailing wage rates for work on a project. They can seek the difference between their actual pay and the required prevailing rates.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed HB3491 on March 22, 2023 by a vote of 75 to 36. We have assigned pluses to the nays because prevailing wage laws increase the cost of construction projects by mandating higher wages for workers. This can lead to higher overall project costs, forcing taxpayers to pay more for projects that could potentially be completed for less. Additionally, prevailing wage laws distort the labor market by artificially inflating wages for certain types of construction work, violating free-market principles.

Hunger-Free Campus  |  HB2528

HB2528 requires the Board of Higher Education to establish a hunger-free campus grant program. Provides that the hunger-free campus grant program shall provide grants to public institutions of higher education that have one or more campuses designated by the Board as hunger-free campuses. 

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed HB2528 on March 21, 2023 by a vote of 106 to 5. We have assigned pluses to the nays because taxpayers should not be obligated to subsidize food for college students. Going to college is not mandatory, and burdening taxpayers with funding a grant that benefits only a specific group of individuals sets a bad precedent. This program represents another step towards socialism, as it involves government intervention in providing for the needs of citizens that could be addressed through individual responsibility or private initiatives.

Government Weaponization  |  SB1909

SB1909 prohibits pro-life limited services pregnancy centers from using “unfair” competition or “deceptive” practices to prevent individuals from accessing abortion or emergency contraception providers, persuade individuals to use their services, “mislead” in advertising or offering pregnancy-related services, or conduct pregnancy-related services “unfairly” or “deceptively”.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed SB1909 on May 10, 2023 by a vote of 72 to 40. We have assigned pluses to the nays because this is a clear example of government overreach and the weaponization of legislative power against political opponents. By imposing restrictions on limited services pregnancy centers under the guise of preventing unfair competition and deceptive practices, this legislation undermines freedom of speech. It sets a dangerous precedent of using government authority to target and suppress certain viewpoints within the realm of abortion.

Illegal Aliens as Law Enforcement Officers  |  HB3751

HB3751 allows individuals with deferred immigration action under DACA to apply for positions like police officer, deputy sheriff, or special policeman, given they meet certain requirements.

We have assigned the pluses to the nays because persons who enter the United States illegally—which, by definition, is a crime—ought not to be permitted sanctuary or residency in Illinois, let alone be considered eligible for appointment as local police officers and deputy sheriffs. Rather than pursue a blatantly unconstitutional and anti-American policy that erodes both the rule of law and the value of citizenship, Illinois should use its powers reserved under the U.S. Constitution’s 10th Amendment to end the crisis of illegal migration and provide for the public safety.

We have assigned pluses to the ayes because a so-called “Convention of the States” would not be of “limited” purpose. Article V of the U.S. Constitution was designed to correct structural deficiencies in the federal government, not the behavior of its elected officials. This rescission is a great step at preserving the constitution. We need more precise, and immediate solutions that would restore power back to the states and to the people, such as clear-cut proposals in Congress to repeal bad amendments or state nullification of specific unauthorized federal laws.

Sex Education Standards  |  SB0818

SB818 makes Illinois the first state to implement sex-education that aligns with the extremely explicit and perverse National Sex Education Standards (NSES).

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed SB818 on May 28, 2021 by a vote of 60 to 48. We have assigned pluses to the nays because this bill is pushing a more progressive curriculum in Illinois schools. We believe getting our children out of public school is the primary solution because of the indoctrination we are seeing with this progressive curriculum across the country.

Gun Owner Rights  |  HB0562

HB562 states if legal firearm owners voluntarily submit fingerprints with your FOID renewal than their application skips ahead of those who choose to not submit fingerprints. This bill also provides that any person who is not a federally licensed firearm dealer shall, before selling or transferring the firearms, must contact the Illinois State Police with the transferee’s or purchaser’s Firearm Owner’s Identification Card number to determine the validity of the transferee’s or purchaser’s ID Card.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed HB562 on June 16, 2021 by a vote of 75 to 40. We have assigned pluses to the nays because the fundamental right of the American people to keep and bear arms is protected by the 2nd Amendment and that right should not be infringed upon. The Constitution does not limit where a gun or firearm can or cannot be used.

Latex Glove Ban  |  HB0209

HB209 enacts that a food service establishment may not permit employees to use latex gloves in the preparation and handling of food. To encourage compliance, the Department of Public Health shall send a notice of warning to a food service establishment for its first violation of specified provisions. Prohibits the use of latex gloves by EMS personnel in 2023 and health care facility personnel in 2024.

We have assigned pluses to the nays because this is unnecessary government interference in the operation of private healthcare and business. This legislation is just another step that the government has taken to interfere in commerce. There are other ways to address allergies and concerns than to restrict something completely.

HB5549 Provides that the African-American HIV/AIDS Response Fund should provide resources for creating and maintaining at least one Black-led Center of Excellence HIV Biomedical Resource Hub for every $3,000,000 of available funding to improve Black health and eliminate Black HIV-related health disparities.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed HB5549 on March 4, 2022 by a vote of 105 to 0. We have assigned pluses to the nays because this legislation was created in the name of equity, propping up another race over another. The left has been promoting woke radical Marxist ideas for years regarding race and sexual orientation. The government and taxpayer dollars should not be embracing these ideas.

Deer Hunting  |  HB2783

HB2783 would allow hunters in counties with 500,000 or more people to use rifles while deer hunting.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed HB2783 on April 9, 2019 by a vote of 100 to 10. We assigned pluses to the ayes because this bill is a step toward restoring the fundamental right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Any bill that would promote God-given rights such as this is one to support.

Sanctuary State  |  HB1637

HB1637 would disallow law enforcement agencies from working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Any law enforcement agency from the city to state levels would be barred from any agreements involving ICE.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed HB1637 on May 27, 2019 with a vote of 67 to 50. We have assigned pluses to the nays as those votes support common sense law enforcement. HB1637 is a disagreeable bill that would encourage illegal immigration into the state of Illinois and prevent law enforcement officers from doing their job. Disallowing law enforcement officers from working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement serves to only make the state of Illinois more dangerous for residents.

Abortion  |  SB0025

SB0025 claims that abortion is a fundamental right for citizens of Illinois, and that fetuses do not have “fundamental rights”. The bill requires that abortion be covered by insurance providers in the state of Illinois.

The Illinois State House of Representatives passed SB0025 on May 28, 2019 by a vote of 64 to 50. We have assigned pluses to the nays because Illinois should act to ban abortion, which disregards the unalienable right to life endowed by God to every person. States have a duty to not only secure this most sacred right, as guaranteed by both the 5th and 14th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, but to also reject the notion that “heath care” is in any manner the legitimate object of government.

HB1637 would disallow law enforcement agencies from working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Any law enforcement agency from the city to state levels would be barred from any agreements involving ICE.

They believe people can choose their pronouns and be transgender.
