HB562 states if legal firearm owners voluntarily submit fingerprints with your FOID renewal than their application skips ahead of those who choose to not submit fingerprints. This bill also provides that any person who is not a federally licensed firearm dealer shall, before selling or transferring the firearms, must contact the Illinois State Police with the transferee’s or purchaser’s Firearm Owner’s Identification Card number to determine the validity of the transferee’s or purchaser’s ID Card.
The Illinois State Senate passed HB562 on May 31, 2021 by a vote of 40 to 17. We have assigned pluses to the nays because the fundamental right of the American people to keep and bear arms is protected by the 2nd Amendment and that right should not be infringed upon. The Constitution does not limit where a gun or firearm can or cannot be used.
