The following scorecard lists several key votes in the Nebraska Legislature in 2024 and ranks state senators based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.

Senate

1. Syringe Services

Good Vote: No

LB307 Syringe Services (Passed 30 to 7 on 2/29/2024). Would let local governments set up syringe-services programs under the guise of reducing disease transmission and addressing substance-use disorders.

2. Government Reduction

Good Vote: Yes

LB936 Government Reduction (Passed 44 to 0 on 3/7/2024). Repeals laws requiring county-issued amusement licenses for pool halls, bowling alleys, and amusement parks outside municipal limits, eliminating the $10 fee and related penalties.

3. Government Expansion

Good Vote: No

LB829A Government Expansion (Passed 40 to 5 on 4/11/2024). Appropriates money from the General Fund to the University of Nebraska’s Board of Regents for mandating insurance coverage for certain cancer screenings and treatments.

4. Grant Expansion

Good Vote: No

LB164 Grant Expansion (Passed 37 to 6 on 4/11/2024). Expands the Municipal Inland Port Authority Act and creates a government grant through the Inland Port Authority Fund.

5. Subsidized Childcare

Good Vote: No

LB856 Subsidized Childcare (Passed 38 to 7 on 4/11/2024). Updates eligibility for the federal Child Care Subsidy, raising the income limit to 185% of the federal poverty level until 2026.

6. Education Scholarships

Good Vote: No

LB1402 Education Scholarships (Passed 32 to 15 on 4/18/2024). Appropriates $25 million to provide education scholarships for Nebraska students entering school at qualified schools, or transferring from public to private schools.
