The following scorecard lists several key votes in the New Jersey Legislature in 2022-2023 and ranks their assemblymen and senators based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.

The selected votes may not be representative of legislators’ overall records. Their cumulative scores will change as we add more votes. Please check regularly for updates.

Senate

1. $5.2 Billion Debt Defeasance Fund

Good Vote: No

S2944 $5.2 Billion Debt Defeasance Fund (Passed 25 to 15 on 6/29/2022). Would move almost 5.2 billion dollars to the "New Jersey Debt Defeasance and Prevention Fund.

2. $45 Million Electric School Bus Program

Good Vote: No

A1282 $45 Million Electric School Bus Program (Passed 23 to 15 on 6/16/2022). Would allocate 45 million dollars over three years to the purchase and maintenance of electric school busses.

3. Prosecuting Gun Manufacturers

Good Vote: No

A1765 Prosecuting Gun Manufacturers (Passed 24 to 16 on 6/29/2022). Allows the Attorney General to exploit public nuisance statutes to bring charges against gun manufacturers.

4. Creating Diversity Bureaucracy

Good Vote: No

S1943 Creating Diversity Bureaucracy (Passed 40 to 0 on 6/29/2022). Creates the Division of Minority and Women Business Development and State Chief Disparity Officer.

5. New Gun Regulations

Good Vote: No

S1204 New Gun Regulations (Passed 23 to 15 on 6/29/2022). Creates new legal restrictions regarding gun ownership in the state of New Jersey. 

6. Ballooning Budget

Good Vote: No

S2023 Ballooning Budget (Passed 25 to 15 on June 29, 2022). Appropriates $50,640,229,000 in State funds and $24,082,639,850 in federal funds for the State budget for fiscal year 2022-2023.
